McDonough has a summer movie series which they show on an inflatable screen on the town square. We met the Crosby's for dinner at the local 50's hamburger joint then headed over to the square to watch Rio on the lawn. The kids really enjoyed it despite it being way past their bedtime. EK snoozed the entire time in her stroller.
Such a great evening! And Rio was a cute little kids flick, too.

thursday thunder.
We went a couple of times this summer to Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway with the Crosby's. If you have not been, it's a great cheap, family-friendly, summertime activity for the kids. Both P and EK love it! There are several races with different types of cars, some crashes (which the kids love), and they even had an autograph day where you could go out on the track and sit in the cars and meet the drivers. P really enjoyed the autograph day. Between the recent Cars 2 movie release and our time at the racetrack, let's just hope P doesn't want to grow up to be a race car driver. I don't think my nerves could handle it.
Jackson watching the race.
P watching the race.
Monkey Wrench is the speedway's mascot. Isn't he cute?
Jackson tickling EK. Jack really loves her. It is so sweet.
Of course my camera decided to quit on me on autograph day. I took some pics with my phone, which I'll try to update later.

fishy, family fun.
We have a season pass to the aquarium and it has definitely come in handy this summer when we needed something indoors for the kids to do. It has been so hot! Amy, Nicholas, and Thomas met us at the aquarium a day in July and we had so much fun!
Sweet girl! She was so good the entire day.
Thomas giving EK some sugar. So sweet.
Our map boys. P and Nicholas cared more about looking at the aquarium map and these interactive computers than the fish. They are so much alike!
Amy and the boys waiting in line for the penguin tunnel. Love these boys so much.
We also went to the dolphin show for the first time. It was AMAZING! I had chill bumps throughout the entire show. EK clapped and squealed with delight every time the dolphins did a trick. P, on the other hand, faced backwards in his chair or buried his head in my lap the entire show. What about dolphins is scary? I'm not so sure. I highly recommend going to the dolphin show if you have not been. It is well worth the extra money.

bath time.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, bath time is my favorite time of our day. There's something about a bath full of bubbles and sweet babies that makes all stress and fatigue go away. The smell of clean skin and crisp pajamas makes me smile from the inside out. I know that one day soon my babies won't want their mama to bathe them, so for now, I'm going to enjoy our nightly scrub.
One night I had just one baby to bathe, so I decided to snap a few pics. Do you remember this post of P in the bath? P and EK are about the same age in these bath time pics.
My favorite.
This girlie loves to splash.

rain tag.
P was helping daddy with yard work when a crazy summer rain shower blew in. Instead of calling it quits and coming inside, P and daddy played a little game of rain tag. P thought their little rain game was the best thing since sliced bread. I've never seen him smile so hard.
Doesn't P look so happy? It's the simple things.

i'm a big kid now.
P is potty trained! My old friend/blog friend, Kasi, sent me this great three-day potty boot camp, which we followed to a t, and after three days, I'm proud to say P is using the potty exclusively now! (Of course, bribery incentives were used as well. Let's just say that lots of m&m's were consumed in that three days.
Here's a potty chart that we used, too. P loved putting the stickers on after each potty session. He swore that the trains would go if he filled up a row with stickers.
Yay, P! Way to go, buddy!

the fourth.
Ummm, it's August 2nd and I'm just now getting back to posting pictures from the fourth of July! Yes, I'm a little behind. We are so busy these days. School and soccer start is less than a week. EK is taking her first steps. P is potty trained. Yay! He has been using the potty for about a month now. So proud of him. But that story is for another post. In this post, I'm going to post all three, yes three, pics I took over the weekend at the lake. I know, I'm pathetic. Sometimes it's nice to just enjoy my kids rather than be behind the camera while my husband enjoys the kids. You know?
These were all taken at Jill and Jeremy's pool at their lake house.
Check out P's face. When, oh when, will he learn to love my camera again? I miss those photogenic days....
EK, on the other hand, loves my camera. Yay for some sweet baby grins.
And that's all folks. I didn't even get a pic of my babies in their fourth of July attire. I swear I'm going to dress them up in red, white, and blue and snap a few pics of them and pretend they are from the fourth. I really just might do it.

nine months.
Wow, I cannot believe Emma Kate is already nine months old. I promised myself I would slow down and enjoy every moment with her, but it still seems to fly by at lightning speed.
At nine months, Emma Kate has 2 teeth, the bottom two which she got at 7 months, and is working on four more. (Doesn't teething seem to last forever?) She is crawling fast, pulling up on everything, standing unassisted for short bursts, but no steps yet. I'm sure she will be walking soon! She loves to eat. She started solids at six months, I started weaning her from breast milk at seven months, and she was weaned completely at eight months. She's doing great on formula and solids. Her favorites are carrots, sweet potatoes, and puffs. She loves to clap and dance, chase P's remote control car, and pull up on the back doors and watch/talk to the dogs. She's extremely social, never meets a stranger. She wakes up going 100 miles per hour and doesn't stop until her head hits her pillow. She's bubbly, chatty, and laughs a lot. We love our sweet little girl to pieces.

movie date.
My mom kept EK for the day and Taylor and I took P to see Cars 2 in the theater. He loves Cars. Actually, he's a little obsessed. Everything he says is Mater this, Lightning that. Crazy.
He loved Cars 2 and is now "looking forward to Cars 4". When we ask him why he doesn't care to see Cars 3, he replies, "because Cars 4 will be better." He cracks us up.
