berry pickin'.

Tax time is strawberry time! April 15th kicks off strawberry season in Georgia and this day has been highly anticipated in our family as strawberries are ripe and ready for picking. And, strawberries are P's favorite! Twin Oaks Family Fun Farm in Forsyth came highly recommended by a friend at work, so we decided to check it out. Glad we did! This place was perfect!

P's Easter egg hunts greatly prepared him for putting strawberries in the bucket. (Thanks, Aunt Jenny!)

He even picked a few! But for some reason, he liked the green one's best.

Obviously, P failed to read the warning sign....

What can I say? P doesn't like boundaries....

Taking a break....

This place had an incredible playground. It was all wood and the ground was covered in mulch made out of recycled tires.

P played his heart out. So did his mommy and daddy:)

He flirted with the owner's daughter. A lot. Good thing he's still a baby, or he'd be in big trouble with her daddy.

We were told that the llama, Don Juan, gave great kisses. P was not going to get close enough to find out.

Can you tell he was a friendly llama?

It was a great family day at the strawberry farm! Check them out at www.twinoaksfunfarm.com. I am told the peak this year for berry pickin' is next weekend. Good times!

eggstraordinary.

I'm describing our Easter weekend. It was outstanding! Mainly because this is P's first Easter. That alone made it eggstra special. After our dinner and egg hunt with our families, we spent an awesome, quiet evening with baby P. I have always loved to dye eggs, so it was very important to me to start this tradition in our family.

P really enjoyed our egg-dying activity. He wanted to be in charge of the eggs and the dipper.

Notice the pink fingers. We quickly determined that unless we gave him a dish full of water, we were going to have an Easter pink stained kitchen.

For this activity, P's pacifier was a necessity. When I took it out of his mouth, the eggs and/or the dye went in. The eggs turned out great and we had a blast!

Taylor and I went to the Masters on Easter Sunday. I was very, very sad to leave P at home, even though he was in good hands. Before we left, we gave P his Easter basket full of goodies.

And, yet again, he sampled the plastic eggs.

He loves his Little People Easter set.

Then we said our goodbyes. He was sad to see us go.

He quickly forgot about us, though. My mom and granny said he laughed and played his heart out all day. When we got home, I don't know who was more exhausted, P or my mom. They wear each other out.

The Masters has been an incredible experience and I am already anticipating next year's tournament. Let's just hope it doesn't fall on Easter again.

egg hunt.

Both sets of grandparents and aunt Jenny and uncle Zac came over on Saturday for dinner and an attempt at an Easter egg hunt for baby P. My sister and I "hid" the eggs, and baby P had a blast "hunting" for them. (We didn't really hide them. We just threw them in the yard. He is only one.) The teacher in my sister really shines when she is with her nephew. "Phoenix, put the egg in the basket. Put the egg IN the basket. Here's the egg. Put it in the basket." She is very, very patient with P.

And her patience paid off. "Yay, Phoenix. You put the egg in the basket!"

He also really likes the taste of eggs. Plastic ones, that is. Real eggs....he hates them.

Eventually, Baby P really got the hang of hunting for eggs. And we were all so very proud.

He loves egg hunts so much, we have held indoor versions in the house every day since. He's one smart cookie.

Happy Easter! Don't forget the true meaning of this special day.

masters.

We headed over to Augusta yesterday for the practice rounds of the Masters with our friends Mike and Catherine. We had perfect weather for a perfect day. Beme watched Phoenix all day while we enjoyed a full day of golf. First, let me say that I don't know a whole lot about golf. I have played a little. Mainly at the driving range in our neighborhood. But, I would definitely not consider myself a golf fan. Until now. Our experience at Augusta National changed my whole outlook on the sport. Golf equals beautiful courses, good food, lots of sunshine, exercise, cheap (and cold) beer, and lots and lots of hot boys wearing tight pants. (Sorry, Taylor.) I think that I was a little more interested in the players' fashion selection than their bogies....or whatever you call it.

I just loved this guy's pants. You have to be really good to get away with wearing pants like these at Augusta National.

I am told this dude is good. Nick Faldo, I believe.

The course was absolutely breathtaking. Television nor pictures do it justice.

I am obsessed with this live oak tree. It has to be a gazillion years old. I can't wait until Sunday. I am definitely paying this stately tree another visit. Beautiful!

The clubhouse

The groundskeeping crews were the size of a small army. And they were oh so meticulous. Every blade of grass had to be in its place. I was quite intrigued by this lawnmower processional....

And check out these prices. This is definitely not your typical sporting event rip-off.

The scoreboard won't be empty on Sunday. We cannot wait to go back for the finals!

The Masters will definitely be an annual event in my calendar. Mike and Cat, we had an AWESOME time hanging out with y'all. Thanks for sharing your super exciting news with us! We can't wait for some fun weekends this summer at Heron Hill.

boo boos.

When it rains, it pours. Poor baby P has had a rough week. One fall after another, one scrape and bruise on top of another. I am dreading this post, because in the "here and now", I really want to forget all about baby P's cuts and scrapes. But, the pediatrician informed me today that these pictures would bring lots of laughs in the future. No laughs from me today. Just tears. I feel so sorry for my little man. And I feel like a crappy mom.

The first big fall was on Sunday. Baby P is learning to run, and he fell while he was running on the driveway. The concrete is not our friend. Poor baby P.

It gets worse. Today, he tripped over a rug in the kitchen, hit the exact same places on his nose and forehead, and scraped the scabs right off of his existing wounds. Poor baby! I panicked a little because I could not get him to stop bleeding. Wondering if he needed stitches, I took him to the Urgent Care clinic at the front of my neighborhood. That was pointless. They wouldn't even see him. They told me to take him to the emergency room because he may need a CT scan. That is not something you say to a first-time mom who is covered in blood and is already panicking. I really didn't think he had a concussion, so I called P's pediatrician first, and they told me just to bring him there. Turns out, P is fine. Just some really rough looking facial wounds. He was as happy as a lark when we left the doctor's office. I'm sure the sucker and the circus band-aid helped a little. I'm just hoping it doesn't leave a scar on my baby boy's pretty face.

P has been a trooper. He has shed just a few tears, then he goes right back to being P again. He's a tough little man. And I love him to pieces. I just wish I could wrap him in bubble wrap to cushion his falls a little.

a different kind of shower.

I hosted a baby shower for my cousin Amy on Saturday. It was actually more like a sprinkle. This is her second baby, so we just invited family for an intimate little lunch to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Thomas James. I am so excited for Nick and Amy! My aunt and granny from Florida were able to make it, too. It was great spending the entire day with the girls.

After the shower, the "Fab Four" headed to Atlanta for a yummy dinner at Baronda and to see "Happy Days" at the Fox. We had a really great time!

Taylor and P spent some quality time together while I got in my "girl time" this weekend. Thanks, Taylor! I have the greatest husband ever!

rain, rain, go away.

Keeping P entertained this week has been a challenge. Maybe because it has rained ALL WEEK! One-year olds like to go outside. Especially my one-year old. I cannot even count the number of times baby P pulled me to the front door, begging to go outside and play. "We can't go outside, buddy. It's raining." He would flail himself on the floor and sob. I wanted to cry, too. Poor thing. He just doesn't understand yet. Needless to say, he spent a lot of time this week with his face pressed against the glass of the front windows, wishing he were outside instead of inside.

Thank goodness we had some good ole' sunshine today. I think we caught up on outside time for the entire week. P is exhausted. And quite content. Let's hope for a beautiful weekend!
